Home / Hybrid / What are the Best Used Hybrid Cars?

There are many reasons to show interest in a hybrid car. Most obviously, a hybrid car allows you to reduce your carbon footprint and do something good for the environment. Plus, even with gas prices being fairly low, it’s always nice to save a few bucks on dual expenses. Additionally, hybrid car design is getting better all the time; currently, hybrids account for some of the sleekest, most feature-loaded and well-performing vehicles on the market.

What’s more, you can find a hybrid vehicle for an affordable price—assuming you’re willing to look at used ones. The question is, which used hybrid is the best?

Used Hybrid Cars to Consider

It all depends on what you’re looking for in a hybrid; here are just a few options we’d recommend you consider.

2011 Toyota Highlander Hybrid

With 28 MPG both in the city and on the highway, this isn’t quite the most fuel efficient hybrid on the road today, but it’s not too bad either. More to the point, it’s an ideal option for those who need the power, the space, and the safety features of an SUV.

2011 Kia Optima Hybrid

This one gets an amazing 34 MPG in the city, and a whopping 39 on the highway—plus, it comes with a sporty look and plenty of great features, even on the most standard model. The safety features, which include airbags and ABS features aplenty, make it especially enticing.

2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

A bit newer, a bit sportier, a bit flashier—if you can find this one, you’ll really be in luck. It gets 36 MPG in the city and 40 on the highway, plus it looks incredibly stylish and it’s simply a lot of fun to drive. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Camry has long been one of the most popular cars in America, so it’s not surprising that there is a hybrid version—nor is it surprising that it’s so solid. If you’ve ever owned a Camry before, you know what you’ll be getting into here—simply a reliable and satisfying car, and one that happens to get 43 MPG in the city, 39 on the highway.

2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in

Plug-in hybrids come with their own unique pros and cons, but if that’s the kind of vehicle you want, this Prius is outstanding—and its highway mileage is a staggering 102 MPG! The city driving is nearly as good, coming in at 90.
